FAQ
Where are you based and do you travel?
I'm based in Southern Utah and yes I love to travel! If you want me to photograph your story outside of where I am, it will require a travel fee, depending on where it takes place. But no worries, I always try to find the cheapest way to get to you because I love the way my creativity is developed when I discover a new place and I don't want it to be a brake for you.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, a 35% non-refundable deposit is required up front to retain your spot. The remaining balance is due before your session takes place.
When will we get our photos?
Your will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within maximum 6 weeks for non-wedding sessions and 10 weeks for weddings (usually less depending on my current workload). You can download all of your photos from your online gallery but also share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints!
How Will I Receive My Images?
I deliver your professionally edited images through an online downloadable gallery. I strongly recommend saving your memories in two different locations (i.e. external hard drive, cloud storage, or computer). I will leave your photos in the online gallery for 6 months and then I remove them to free up space on my website so others can have access to their images. It is required that you save your gallery within that time because you will not have access after those 6 months.
How many pictures will we receive?
I always choose quality rather than quantity so you can be reassured you will be getting back the best and more significant photos to tell your story. With that being said, let's just say I am generous with the amount I give back!(I hate good photos going to waste).
What should I wear?
1. Don't match. Coordinate.
-When you are deciding what to wear for photos start with the youngest and pull colors from their outfit to dress and layer everyone else. Layering can make a huge difference in tying in all the colors!
2. Highlight your best asset.
-Be yourself!! Wear something you love and that highlights your best asset to help give you a boost of confidence during your session. It will definitely show in your final images!
3. Choose your color palette first.
-When deciding what to wear for photos, pick a palette of 3-4 colors. Let this be your starting place! Think in terms of tones: blue tones, earth tones, neutrals, pastels, etc. Everyone in the family can express their own sense of style within the chosen color palette.
4. Stay away from graphic tees. This draws attention away.
Some ideas:
-Classic: Timeless style, chinos, khakis, beige and blues, nature-hues, pastels, shirts, and simple dresses.
-Florals and prints: Just florals, or an eclectic mix of prints and patterns. Pairing them with stripes can also work sometimes.
-Colors: Keep them complementary as opposed to completely matching (e.g. all white shirts and blue jeans). Avoid stark contrasts such as green and orange/red together, and yellows and purples juxtaposed. Complementary colors are more like warm tones (yellows, oranges, pinks, warm red and even warm greens) together and cool tones (blues, purples, greens) together. But an explosion of bright colors could also work, although I’d shoot it on a plain background or setting.
-Consistency: Avoid extreme differences (e.g. one person is wearing a casual knitted chunky sweater and the other is wearing a nice silky dress). It can be quite jarring. Black and white is another combination that’s too stark a contrast unless it’s done intentionally.
-Dark, light and bright: Darks for adults, and lights or brights for small children. Do it the other way and the adults will dominate the scene and draw the viewer’s attention, while the smaller people will disappear.
